CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 4, 2024) – Carolina Ascent FC announced today the addition of Brenden Slomka to Head Coach Philip Poole’s technical staff for the 2024-25 season as an Internal Performance Analyst. Slomka brings years of experience in tactical analysis and video scouting.
“Brenden is an important addition to our staff and brings a unique skillset to the table,” Poole commented. “It is an amazing feat for the club to hire yet another highly capable person who will represent our home town.”
Slomka served as a Video Scout for FC Wil in the Swiss second tier identifying potential transfer and loan targets for the club and tracking progress of scouted players.
“I’m excited to be part of the team that’s bringing professional women’s sports back to my hometown of Charlotte, N.C.,” Slomka shared. “This region has a strong reputation for developing and producing top soccer talent. I look forward to building on that legacy with the Carolina Ascent FC technical staff and players as we work to create a world class women’s professional soccer program.”
For three seasons, Slomka contributed to the Syracuse University Women’s Soccer Program as a Student Manager. In this role, he analyzed game film to create opposition scouting reports, helping Syracuse to its best season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Slomka also collected, organized, and cleaned data from Playermaker wearables to assess individual progress.
During the summers, Slomka added to his experience with multiple analyst opportunities. In 2022, he worked with the USL W League as a Video Analyst Intern. As part of the league’s inaugural season, Slomka established a comprehensive database of all high schools, universities, and professional teams represented by players competing in the USL W League. He also developed the initial record book for the league.
In 2021, Slomka worked as a Player Development Intern with Syracuse FC, scouting future opponents by compiling reports and tracking key player actions during matches. He also worked with Atlantic City FC analyzing opponents’ matches and providing insights on formations and tendencies.
Additionally, Slomka has engaged in real-time entry for numerous games with IMG Arena as a Data Collector for Major League Soccer and MLS Next Pro. He also worked in the National Football League Game Statistics and Information System (GSIS) department as a member of the team that ensures the quality of official NFL Statistics.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Slomka earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Analytics with minors in Sport Management and Physical Education (Coaching).
