CHARLOTTE, N.C. (February 28, 2024) – Super League Carolina announced today the hiring of Becky Hylton as the Assistant General Manager ahead of the club’s inaugural 2024-25 season.
“I would like to welcome Becky as our Assistant General Manager,” Head Coach Philip Poole shared. “I know I can speak on behalf of everyone within the club when I say we are delighted to add Becky to our staff. Becky’s prior experiences in all aspects of the soccer ecosystem were huge factors in identifying her as a person that could help us achieve our short and long term goals. Becky’s ties to our community are strong and have allowed us to continue our deliberate drive to hire the very best people.”
Hylton and her family have called Charlotte home for the past 20 years. She brings coaching experience at almost every level with a passion for player development. Most recently, Hylton has served on the coaching staff for the Charlotte Development Academy, a local soccer program dedicated exclusively to girls, since 2020.
“The leadership team at Super League Carolina has a very clear vision, and it’s exciting to be part of an organization that’s leading the way for women’s professional sports here in the Carolinas,” Hylton commented. “I’m grateful to be working alongside a team of coaches that are dedicated to advancing the women’s game and creating better opportunities for young players to develop within our ecosystem. Mostly, I’m eager to help this generation of young women achieve the dreams and aspirations of playing professional soccer that were not available here in the U.S. when I was still playing.”
For approximately 10 years, Hylton served as an Assistant Coach with the Charlotte Lady Eagles in the former USL W League. During her time with the club, the Lady Eagles were National Semifinalists twice. In May 2024, Hylton will be inducted into the Charlotte Lady Eagles Hall of Fame.
Prior to moving to Charlotte, Hylton worked with the Barry University women’s soccer program in Miami, Florida. The team reached the NCAA Elite Eight during her lone season with the program in 2003. Previously, Hylton was the Women’s Soccer Head Coach at Rollins College in Orlando, Florida, from 2001-2002. Her first collegiate head coaching role was with Messiah College from 1997-2000.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Hylton was a collegiate All-American at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. In 2008, Hylton was inducted into the Gordon College Athletics Hall of Honor. She continued her playing career in the USL W League beginning in 1995 which was the highest level of women’s soccer in the country at the time. Hylton was rostered with the Boston Renegades, New Jersey Wildcats, and the Charlotte Lady Eagles where she was part of the 2000 squad which reached the league final.
Hylton’s husband, Andy, also played professional soccer for the Charlotte Eagles. Together, they have three children who all play soccer. Their eldest son, Caleb, plays on Charlotte FC’s U20 Academy team and is committed to play collegiate soccer at UNC Charlotte starting this fall. Hylton’s middle daughter, Chloe, is committed to play at NC State in the fall of 2025. The youngest, Callie, is progressing through the ranks of youth soccer.
