CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 24, 2024) – Carolina Ascent Football Club announced today the signing of striker Mia Corbin for the USL Super League’s 2024/25 Inaugural Season, pending league and federation approval. Corbin joins Carolina Ascent FC from Brisbane Roar in the Australian Liberty A-League. She recorded eight goals and four assists while starting all 22 matches of the 2023/24 season.
“Mia is a player I watched very closely in the early stages of our recruitment,” Head Coach Philip Poole explained. “Scoring goals at the professional level is the hardest thing to do. When you find a player who has scored on three different continents and has shown improvement year on year you can’t help but be really impressed. Once I connected with Mia and had the chance to get to know her, I was convinced that she would be a great fit here in the Carolinas.”
Before moving to Australia, Corbin played the second half of the 2022/23 season with Parma Calcio in the Serie A Femminile, the highest level of professional women’s soccer in Italy. She tallied three goals and two assists in just 12 matches.
Corbin starred in the Costa Rican Liga de Fútbol de Primera División with Alajuelense W where she won the 2022 Golden Boot with 20 goals and a pair of league championships.
Following her collegiate career, Corbin joined the Seattle Reign in the NWSL.
“I get to continue to play the sport I love while being a part of a great opportunity in the United States,” Corbin said. “I could not be more excited to kick things off with Carolina Assent FC and meet everyone in the community!”
A four-year standout player for the University of California, Berkeley, Corbin finished her time as a Bear with 80 all-time appearances. Corbin was a member of the U-19 United States Women’s National Team Player Pool and a Gatorade National Player of the Year Nominee.
