CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 29, 2024) – Carolina Ascent Football Club announced today the signing of forward Jaydah Bedoya ahead of the club’s 2024/25 Inaugural Season, pending league and federation approval. Carolina Ascent FC will host the first-ever USL Super League match on Saturday, August 17 at American Legion Memorial Stadium. Season tickets are on sale now at CarolinaAscent.com/tickets.
“We are really excited about Jaydah joining our team,” Head Coach Philip Poole said. “She brings an exciting attacking mentality and a willingness to take chances with the ball. Throughout our recruitment, we have taken a holistic approach by focusing on the person just as much as the player. Jaydah is going to be an amazing teammate based on the person she is.”
Bedoya received her first call-up to the Ecuador Women’s National Team in 2022 and earned her first cap in a friendly against Chile. She also joined the Ecuadorian squad for a training camp in February ahead of the 2024 Copa America this summer.
The New Bedford, Massachusetts, native transferred to West Virginia University for her senior season in 2023. She played in all but one match, helping the Mountaineers earn a first round bye in the Big12 Conference Championship.
Across three seasons, Bedoya made 43 appearances for the University of Connecticut. Bedoya had a breakout season as a sophomore for the Huskies as she was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third Team. Bedoya’s six goals, four assists and 16 points all led the team.
“I am absolutely pumped and grateful to be joining Carolina Ascent FC,” Bedoya expressed. “I’m excited to join the climb with this vibrant community of fans in the Carolinas and be a part of an incredible atmosphere. I’m so thrilled to dive into this new chapter, one match at a time. Together we will rise!”
On the heels of a stellar high school soccer showing, Bedoya left Tabor Academy a year early to sign with UConn in the Class of 2020. Bedoya led her team to a pair of Class B New England championships, winning the 2019 title and accumulating an extensive list of accolades.
