CHARLOTTE, NC (November 4, 2026) – With the win over Lexington SC Saturday and other results around the league over the weekend, the Carolina Ascent have become the first team to clinch their spot in the 2026 Gainbridge Super League Playoffs. Carolina currently sits first in the Super League table, sitting at 26 points with three games remaining. The team’s sights are now on clinching the club’s second Players’ Shield.
The Ascent have carried over their success from the first two seasons into their third campaign. The Ascent started off with two road wins before falling in the home opener to the Tampa Bay Sun. Since that game on August 29, the Ascent have gone unbeaten, creating a sizable gap between them and the rest of the clubs in the league table. The Ascent boast the league’s second-highest scoring mark with 18 goals through nine unique goalscorer. The set piece dominance that fans have become accustomed to has continued, with nine of the squad’s 18 goals coming via set piece situations. The Ascent also sport the league’s best defense, allowing only six goals in 12 contests this season. The Ascent have also kept a clean sheet in a whopping eight games this season, more than double Lexington SC who sit in second with three.
Carolina continues their historic campaign this Saturday in Brooklyn, before heading south to take on Sporting Jax on November 21. They wrap up their regular season on November 28 when they host Dallas Trinity FC at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
