Super League Carolina to lay the pathway for women’s soccer player development in the Carolinas
Charlotte, N.C. (December 13, 2023) – Super League Carolina today announced the club’s plan to create a complete soccer pathway for girls and women in the Carolinas. Under the club’s professional Super League team, will be a pre-professional USL W League team who will take the same name and brand of the Super League team once it is announced in 2024. The addition of a USL Academy (U20) is also in the works, creating a full pathway from academy to pre-professional to professional all under the Super League Carolina umbrella.
A tryout for the USL W League team will be hosted on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at American Legion Memorial Stadium. The tryout will be conducted by the club’s USL W League coaching and technical staff with oversight from Super League Carolina’s head coach to be announced on January 2, 2024.
“We’re excited to build an internationally leading women’s professional team for Carolina soccer fans. To do this, we need an exceptional player development pathway we control,” explained Super League Carolina Managing Partner, Jim McPhilliamy. “This USL W League team will be the official affiliate for our Super League team, and we will use this team to prepare Super League players of the future. This tryout is a tremendous opportunity for exceptional, up-and-coming players to perform under the watchful eye of our Super League head coach as well as our USL W League coaching and technical staff.”

- Eligibility: The USL W League is a pre-professional league open to elite youth players, collegiate players, aspiring professionals, and former professionals. The League welcomes participation from domestic and international players.
